Mortgage loans: interest rates changing in Luxembourg

August 4, 2017

Every month, the BCL (Banque Centrale du Luxembourg) reports on the changes in interest rates for mortgage loans in the Grand Duchy.

The July report deals with interest rates recorded in the month of May for new contracts signed:

  • The average variable interest rate recorded, which was 1.63% in April, went to 1.66% in the month of May.
  • The fixed interest rate, which was 1.81% in April, went to 1.87% in May.

The significant decrease in mortgage rates in late 2016/early 2017 is therefore coming to an end. Rates are increasing slightly every month, but are still very attractive compared to the rates recorded only a few years ago!
