Introduction to the Commune

The commune of Troisvierges is located in northern Luxembourg in the heart of Our Nature Park. It has seven other towns: Basbellain, Biwisch, Drinklange, Goedange, Hautbellain, Huldange, and Wilwerdange.

Leisure in Troisvierges

The commune has a recreational center with multiple activities, including swimming pools, sports fields, and camping. The indoor pool is 82 ft (25 m) long by 39 ft (12 m) wide. For days with nice weather, the outdoor pool has excellent amenities, including a lazy river, jets, and a waterslide. Two small pools with a surface area of 468 ft2 (43.5 m²) are reserved for toddlers. Camping is also part of the recreational center, which has all the necessary amenities and equipment.

Nature in Troisvierges

The Europe Garden was founded in 2000 for the Jardins à Suivre project, in which students from Munich, Versailles, and Edinburgh created themed gardens. In 2003, during a meeting between 15 rural European communes, the pathway within the park was developed. To commemorate the occasion, each commune planted a tree native to their country in the European arboretum. In recent years, the park has been expanded and now offers several spaces for planting or hosting temporary art installations.

Tourism in Troisvierges

The Franciscan church is a beautiful building that dates from 1489. At the time, it had a chapel in which the three virgins Faith, Hope, and Charity were venerated. In 1630, Franciscan monks built a monastery in the Baroque style to which a church was added. It houses one of the oldest organs in the country, paintings from the Rubens school, and statues of the three virgins who gave the town its name.

Basbellain Church is also worth a visit. Located in the city center, it was built in the Gothic Revival style in 1870. The church and its cemetery have been classified as national monuments since 1991.

Located near the village of Huldange and reaching a height of 1,834 ft (559 m), Buurgplaatz is the highest point in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and one of the country’s main attractions.

Ecology

The town participates in the Climate Finance Pact program, which is inspired by the European Energy Award. The program encompasses a quality management and certification system in the areas of energy policy and climate protection that assesses and rewards communes for getting involved.
