Introduction to the Commune of Junglinster

Located in the eastern part of Luxembourg, Junglinster includes 12 towns: Altlinster, Beidweiler, Blumenthal, Bourglinster, Eisenborn, Eschweiler, Godbrange, Gonderange, Graulinster, Imbringen and Rodenbourg. It is the largest commune in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Schools in Junglinster

The commune and its towns have several schools for children, child care facilities and a high school. The latter, called Lênster, has just opened European German and English departments for primary education students (from 6 years of age). The commune may also grant an incentive award for secondary and technical secondary education students, as well as for students of the European school. Documentation must be completed in this regard, and is available on the commune’s website. Additionally, several evening classes are offered by the commune in collaboration with Maacher High School in Grevenmacher.

Sports in Junglinster

The commune has many trails for those who love hiking, with opportunities to combine the practical (sporting activities) with the pleasant (the (re)discovery of landscapes in the Mullerthal region). Junglinster has a soccer club with excellent infrastructure. Several groups have evolved there (juniors, seniors, women and veterans), but the club’s flagship team is the women's team, which is fairly uncommon. The Lênster high school swimming pool is open to the general public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, and Sundays from 9:00am to 12:00pm except during school holidays.

Culture in Junglinster

The commune has two cultural centers. The first one known as "Am Duerf" includes a recreation room with a stage, a theater box and an outdoor courtyard. The second, called the Gaston Stein, has a multipurpose room and a sports hall.

Dating back to the 12th century, Bourglinster Castle dominates the town and the surrounding cliffs. With its beautiful architecture, it has hosted numerous cultural and gastronomic events organized by the Friends of the Castle Association.

Every two years the commune’s Culture Commission organizes the Art Lënster event, an exhibit for amateur and professional artists in the field of fine arts.
